Exclusive Mandarin Consulting & EY Careers Insight Evening

Exclusive Mandarin Consulting & EY Careers Insight Evening

In partnership with EY’s Far East Network (FEN), Mandarin Consulting held an exclusive Careers Insight Evening at EY’s London Bridge office on Monday 10th December 2018. Nineteen university students attended the event and were given the unique opportunity of meeting a diverse group of EY professionals.

Suwin Lee, Partner sponsor of EY FEN, and Sharon Chen, Chair of FEN, kicked off the event by welcoming everyone and introducing EY FEN. Suwin, who is also Head of EY’s Global Restructuring Tax Network, emphasised the importance of diversity at EY. As an organisation which values diversity and inclusion (D&I), she highlighted that EY is constantly in search of talented individuals from all backgrounds and especially those with a global outlook.

To give students a flavour of the career opportunities available at the organisation, a number of EY professionals gave a presentation on the significance of technological disruption, the different service lines and the graduate recruitment process.

Following the presentation, a panel discussion gave students the opportunity to ask questions directly to a number of EY professionals. The moderated discussion focused on career aspirations, learning and development opportunities and work-life balance. This provided real insight into the various aspects of life at EY.

To wrap up the event, students were encouraged to network with the EY team. All the students enthused about how helpful, interesting and insightful the whole event was and how much they had gained from attending.

Sharon Chen, Chair of the Far East Network at EY, said ‘It was a fantastic evening attended by many high achieving and proactive students keen to start their careers. We’re honoured to be given the opportunity to encourage the future leaders of tomorrow.’

Isabel Lai, Senior Consultant in EY, reflected that ‘The EY experience is special. Thanks to Mandarin Consulting, our excellent co-organiser of the event, we were able to share our stories with amazingly talented students who are just about to enter the exciting, tech-oriented world of work.’

Sally Patterson, Senior Coach and Deputy Head Programme Management in Mandarin Consulting said, ‘It was inspiring to see such an enthusiastic and motivated cross section of EY employees, from Senior Management to new recruits, who were so willing to share their own experiences, giving valuable insight into EY’s culture and understanding how they have progressed so successfully in their own careers at EY.’
