Meet the Mentors Supper at the Oriental Club, London

On Monday 28th November, Mandarin Consulting was privileged to be chosen to partner with the Hong Kong Society for the third year running, which hosted a dinner for thirty-four young professionals and students and four career mentors within the banking and financial services industries. Carrie Waley, CEO of Mandarin Consulting and Mark Gray, Managing Director, Corporate Development, Standard Chartered Bank opened the evening, inspiring the audience to realise their own potential in their future careers. The four mentors and the chairpersons, all of whom lived or studied in Hong Kong and China, and most of whom have worked or currently work within Asian markets, discussed the challenges and opportunities which led them to their current positions.

Ed Squire, Advisor, JP Morgan Cazenove discussed his challenges and experiences within asset management, insurance and banking. Richard McDonald, Partner, Deloitte LLP spoke about what made an applicant stand out in the application process for graduate positions and Paget Dare Bryan, Partner, Clifford Chance LLP gave valuable careers advice about what employers are looking for from graduates. Romy Murray, Director, Trustee and Executive Coach spoke about her career and experiences for graduates in the world of banking.

The floor opened for questions after which the evening continued with conversations over a two course dinner and drinks at the Oriental Club’s elegant dining rooms.
