Mandarin Consulting Alumnus Michelle Xu interviewed in the prestigious New Club, Edinburgh
The New Club, the oldest and most pre-eminent private Members’ club in Scotland, was the venue for the inaugural ‘Interview and Networking Event’ hosted by the Mandarin Consulting Edinburgh team on Saturday January 20th.
The event began with inspirational speeches from Mandarin Consulting coaches David Walters, Caroline Finlay and Director David Peckham. Each shared of their joy working with ambitious Chinese university students and talked of the satisfaction they experienced helping students change their lives whilst on their journeys of seeking a job and the start of a successful career.
Carrie Waley, CEO of Mandarin Consulting, passionately delivered her inspirational message, “job hunting is a journey and it is all about the learning”, which really resonated with the Chinese students.
The afternoon reached its peak when the successful Mandarin Consulting Alumnus Michelle Xu, a graduate from the University of Edinburgh, shared her own story about applying for jobs and her current experience of working on a graduate programme at the Royal Bank of Scotland. Her determination, tenacity and positive attitude uplifted everyone’s spirits.
This inaugural event concluded with the opportunity for all to network, share experiences and enjoy the beautiful surrounds of The New Club, Edinburgh.
“What a posh event! I have learned so much about interview and networking skills and made many new friends. I am so determined now that I want to stay in the UK and find a good job after my graduation.”

“Thank you for providing such a great opportunity today! The venue is so impressive. The experience sharing from the successful candidate, Michelle, made me realise my biggest weakness which is business knowledge. I am motivated now to learn.”
