Successful HSBC China Returns Insight Day for Chinese Students

Mandarin Consulting was proud to partner with HSBC to promote the bank’s China Returns Programme. On the 22nd October 2016, over 250 eager Chinese students arrived at HSBC in Canary Wharf, London, to learn about this unique programme and meet current graduates.
John Morewood, Head of Emerging Talent at HSBC, opened the session by welcoming everyone and introducing the aim of the Insight Day.
Having outlined the importance of China to HSBC, Carrie Waley, CEO of Mandarin Consulting, then offered students some guidance on how to make the most out of the day.
Students attended two further presentations during the session about HSBC’s presence in China, presented by the Head of the China Desk, and details about the recruitment process for the China Returns Programme, given by HSBC’s Graduate Recruitment Manager. Time was available for students to meet current HSBC employees from various departments of the bank to gain a real insight to life on the programme and beyond.
The HSBC two-year China Returns Programme is for final-year students and graduates in the UK who want to be based in China and are fluent in Mandarin. Students experience a number of areas within Commercial Banking in the UK and China, then return to China for a long-term role.
